Charlotte Mathews is Director of Sustainability at Sidewalk Labs, an Alphabet company setting out to develop a new neighborhood “from the internet up” with a goal of Climate Positive operations. Before Sidewalk Labs designed their landmark neighborhood on the Toronto Waterfront, Charlotte and her team needed to know: can we rely on the predictive energy model?
Charlotte is a member of the board of directors of the Institute for Market Transformation and was a WRI Ross Center board advisor and has been widely engaged in local policy and national building standards. Previous engagements include co-chairing the Residential track of the NYC Building Resiliency Task Force; co-chairing the Construction Practices committee of the NYC Green Codes Task Force; DOE Energy Efficiency Buildings Hub—Industry Advisory Committee; Vice-Chair of the Real Estate Roundtable Sustainability Policy Advisory Committee, Real Estate Board of New York—Sustainability Committee member; NYS REV Market Design Working Group member and teaching at Columbia University in the GSAPP Masters in Real Estate Development program (2010-2014).
